I love the South Carolina Democratic Party, and I am delighted that we are the FIRST IN THE NATION!
Having the honor of the First in the Nation status is an extraordinary party-building opportunity. It’s about money; it’s about engaging Southern, rural, and Black voters early and being ready to seize this political opportunity.
No other candidate running for Chair, 1st Vice, 2nd Vice or 3rd Vice Chairs have ever been at the State Party level during a presidential primary and convention. Now, South Carolina is not only an early state but we are the First in the Nation! The eyes of the whole country will be on the South Carolina Democratic Party and we can’t afford to have leadership with training wheels on as we have this awesome opportunity and responsibility.
We all know resources can be tight, so to combat this challenge, I will leverage our First in the Nation status to engage donors while being innovative and building an on-the-ground, in-house communications and social media team to engage Democrats across all 46 counties year-round.
My extensive experience in statewide leadership roles on two Presidential primary campaigns and as Executive Director of SCDP prepared me to lead our party successfully through this process. Because I understand both sides, I know the needs of the Presidential Campaigns and the duties and expectations of the South Carolina Democratic Party and the DNC.
